Overview of How it works
It's very simple. We award points for various actions on the site, like voting, commenting, asking questions and completing promotional Offers from our Partners. Those points are redeemable for unlocking various social features on the site (like Ad impressions, Sponsored Questions, Profile ehancements/customizations, etc) as well as for various prizes and gifts, which will all be listed in the soon to be released AEO Rewards Store.
The Rewards system has been designed to give all Members a fair chance to earn cool stuff - and is pretty much based on your own effort & how many people you refer (Members receive 15% of the points their referrals earn).
We decided to keep multi-level referrals out because this site is not about gimmicks and MLM - everyone should have an equal chance! Together, we all benefit - there's power in numbers.
In addition, Members will also be able to complete "Offers" (ie. promos, etc) from AEO's various Partners. These "Offers" are all different and we are just serving as the go-between. We review Offers manually and will try to post only the easiest & cool ones.
Once you click on an Offer it will go into Pending, but you still have to actually complete it (whatever it may be) to get the points. Upon completion, if you did the Offer correctly and the Partner's system approved it then our system will receive confirmation. It may take up to a month (the first month) to clear from Pending, but then should only take a week to validate your Offer submissions after that - at that point your Points will be moved from Pending to your actual balance - and the Offer will be officially completed.

How do the points work exactly?
- 1 point for every vote you make
- 1 point for every vote you receive (from your posted questions)
- 5 points for every Comment
- 10 points for Asking (ie. posting) a Question
- 10 points for referring someone (when they sign up from your Profile Join free now link or Join free now button)
- + 15% of each of your Referral's points (if you refer someone)
- + 20 points for every pageview that comes from a Search Engine, like Google, Yahoo/Bing or Ask - for your entire life! As long as your question stays on our site...you'll continue to earn.
Then on top of that, we get these "promos"/contests/surveys from big companies, which they call "Offers" - it's basically whatever they want you to do, like signing up for a free site, subscribing to a newsletter, doing a survey, etc. We try to hand pick only the easiest, fastest and best ones. And some of them even give you a chance to win real stuff like Gift cards, cash, etc.
The whole point is to let these companies market to you via email and they'll pay us for it...and in turn, we'll pay you for your loyalty (in the form of prizes). We technically can't give out cash, but we can give out cool prizes and popular giftcards, which are just as good or like cash : ) The Offers are worth a lot of points, so the more you do...the quicker you'll earn enough points to redeem something really cool.
What do I need to do the Offers? Or, What's required?
Basically, you just have to have a real email (some people create another email account just for these promo "Offers", either to keep it organized or to separate it from their personal email) and sometimes you have to double opt-in, which simply means clicking on the confirmation email if they send you one. Some don't even do that...they simply give you credit for completing the "Offer" the moment you answer some product related questions and put in your email - they call that a "Simple Email Submit" because all you're technically doing is submitting an email.
Here's a formal list of Requirements:
- » Must be a US resident with US IP (Outside of US? Int'l? See below.)
- » Must have a real, working email address
- » No duplicate accounts, entries/Offers or Proxy IPs allowed
- » Offer Points are "pending" until Partners approve
- » Partners track emails, so if you do the Offer somewhere else they'll know and so will we and will have to suspend or ban your account.
- » Please don't try to game or beat the system. You'll mess it up for everyone and Partners may stop giving us their Offers. We'll make sure we post enough Offers and constantly update the design of the system so that you can easily, easily get A LOT out of it! Just follow the rules, refer some friends and let the power of our combined numbers and working together speak for itself...and we'll all benefit in the process.
Why are my Offer points in Pending so long?
The major brands we partner with pay us when you guys successfully complete the Offer (with real, legit, info). So, the points for each Offer will remain in Pending status until our system receives confirmation from their system, at which point they'll be moved to your Total Points balance.
When can I redeem my cool stuff?
Redemptions can be made on the 15th and at the end of the following month the points were earned in.
So if you earned 100,000 points in Oct. then you can redeem items of equal or lesser value at the end of November. We plan to move this up to weekly very soon.
Can I create multiple AEO Accounts to do Offers, etc?
No! Our Partners have VERY sophisticated systems and there is a lot of technology involved. Not only that, but there is a lot of paranoia about people gaming the system and committing fraud - so even the slightest dishonesty may raise flags and/or even get us in trouble, which would cause us to have to suspend the offending member. So, just as long as everyone just keeps it simple, uses real info...and only does the Offers that they are comfortable doing or genuinely interested in - then we can all use our power in numbers to benefit!
How do I know this is legit?
Many AEO Members have won numerous prizes and cash prizes with our various contests and promotions. Just check the Comments all through out the site.
As for the Offers - they're part of a ginormous industry and simply an established form of specialized marketing. You do it all the time when you interact directly with the brands you buy from and/or some of your favorite websites, you probably just don't realize it. And, it's a very common practice for them to allow sites like AEO to host these Offers.
Plus, there are a lot of well established websites already doing different forms of this (some are called Get Paid To sites, others are called Survey Taking sites). It's basically a form of collective marketing/advertising. A lot of these companies have pros and cons and we just felt with our connections and business relationships we could bring a great version of these loyalty programs to AskEachOther for our loyal members. Plus, we figured we'd streamline it and hand pick only the easiest and best Offers (ie. keeping the silly ones or excessively long ones at a minimum).
What is an Offer?
An Offer is any type of promotion that a company offers to a site like AEO to offer to its members. An Offer can be any of the following:
- An offer to enter a contest
- An offer to do a survey or quiz
- An offer to join a free site
- An offer to subscribe to a newsletter
- An offer to purchase something or a subscription
- An offer to double opt-in (basically sign up for something & click on the confirmation email when they send it, which is the double/2nd opt-in)
- An offer to single opt-in (basically give them your email address & zipcode)
Some ask you for a bunch of personal info, some send you through surveys, tons of processes, Offer funnels, pick this, choose that, etc. Some are easy though (and we try to filter them out and hand-pick those for you).
Most of the Offers try to get you into a "funnel" after you technically complete the Offer...this is there way of showing you additional stuff. Simply read our description of what you're expected to do to be considered a "conversion". A lot of times it's a simple email/zip-code submission...and once you do that, you're technically good to go...but it'll show you other Offers and tell you other things are "required" - typically those are required for that next promotion...and not the original Offer.
Try it out, see if you can develop a few strategies, tips, etc. and just let them do what they wanna do, which is reach you & send you stuff - and we'll reward you with Points that will allow you to redeem a bunch of cool stuff in return!
What is an opt-in?
Just a fancy way of saying you "gave/give your approval" or opted to do something (ie. you opted in to something). Typically you have to opt-in to receive email from a website before they can actually send you email. If you opt-out...they cannot send you email any more.
How Offer Points works? Can I lose points?
Offer Points are "pending" until the various Partners approve & confirm that you have successfully completed the Offer. In addition, Partners reserve the right to reverse such approval if you opt out or they find duplicates, fake information, etc. In these cases, we will deduct the points you received for that Offer and if we find numerous instances may review or suspend your account.
We do not have control over the Offers or any say in their completeness, so it is up to you to fill them out the best that you can and when our system receives confirmation from their system we will update our records accordingly and your points will move from pending to your actual Total Points balance.
How do Referrals work?
It's simple. Tell your friends to sign up by clicking on the Join free now link in the green Referral area at the top of your Profile page. Or tell them to click the Join free now button on the left side of your Profile page about 4 inches below your profile picl
You can also email, Facebook share or Tweet to your friends something like:

Outside of the US? International?
Most of our Offers are US only, since most of our Members are US, however, if you are outside the US, just let us know which country you are in and we'll try to find Offers just for you! We have quite a few International Partners that we work with.

How much are points worth? AEO Store?

Why did AEO re-design AEO Rewards like this?
As we were doing day to day AEO business, we came to a realization - the Economy sucks, big/famous websites are getting richer...and what are our loyal Members and friends getting out of this? Not much - maybe a fun site (in AEO). Maybe a chance to win a few bucks (with our old MVQ and Entry Points Contests). Maybe a fun way to kill time. BUT...what if you could add a more fair and easy way to win cool stuff to all of that? We basically realized you can.
Everyday we all visit websites that shove ads in our faces and make millions, some even billions. Do they give us any of that? 90% don't. There are some however, that do. Some will pay you to do "Offers"...it's basically just a more aggressive method than just shoving ads in your face. It's the chance to get you to engage in more of a process with their brand and for them to email you (ie. opt-in). Typically, they only give this privilege to established companies (like AEO) and it's not possible for individuals to get access to them, so we figured why not reach out to them...so we can offer you the chance to do these "Offers" in addition to all the other stuff you already do on AEO!
In most cases, all you really need is a real, valid, working email address for them to send you stuff and confirmations, etc. just so that they know a real person did the Offer.

Entering Information
- Always enter up to date, complete information. Any fake information will result in no credit or credit that gets denied at a later time.
- No use of Robo-form (Or any program that automatically enters your information for you) as this greatly decreases your chance of approval. Currently (As of March, 2009) The use of Robo-form and applications like Robo-form are highly influencing your chance of approval. If you use Robo-form (or any application like it) your approval rates will SUFFER.
- Take your time, read over and double check all information before moving onto the next page, or submitting your form. The extra time will help to show the advertiser you are actually viewing everything they wish you to view.
- View as many pages as you can, even after you have completed the offer description. Continue to view some additional ads and pages as this can help show the advertiser that you are interested which will make them more likely to credit you.
- Complete each offer only ONCE. This means through our site, as well as any other site you may be apart of. For example, if you complete Celebrity Quiz on AskEachOther then you go to a different website and complete that offer again, you may lose your original credit on AskEachOther and you probably will not receive credit on your newest completion.
Insurance
- Its been said that the best browser to use is Firefox, the second best is Internet Explorer. Browsers that aren't as good for completing offers include AOL and Netscape. Another thing to note, while IE is a fine browser to use, IE 8.0 is NOT.
More information regarding browser usage:
Firefox has the HIGHEST approval rating at 55.53% Opera comes next with 53.22% Safari comes with a 49.39% approval rating IE 7.0 comes in at 47.83% IE 6.0 comes in at 46.25% Other IE browsers come in at the least with 44.49%
Some of the issues with IE 7.0 is that they have launched a security update and they no longer allow the browser to accept all cookies anymore, as well as resetting cookies which lowers the approval rate even lower than usual.
Cookies are the MAIN way that offers are tracked. If you do not have cookies, you will not be credited for your time in the offers.
We HIGHLY recommend using Firefox web browsers while completing offers so that you can achieve the highest approval rate possible.
Please make sure that ALL cookies are enabled in your browser as well as any firewalls being set to allow ALL cookies.
- Please be sure to enable your cookies. You can usually do this by going to Tools, Options or Tools, Internet Options and then selecting to enable cookies (Or changing your security on cookies to allow more to be accepted).
- Hand in hand, you must clear cookies right after completing (And marking as completed) your offer. This helps ensure that you do not have cookies that stay longer than needed.
To turn on cookies
In Internet Explorer:
Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options and then on the new window that opens click Privacy Tab. Look for 'Settings' and slide that bar to Accept All Cookies.
In Firefox:
Open Firefox, click Tools then Options. In that new window please find Privacy, then Cookies and make sure the Accept cookies from sites box has a check in it as well as Accept third-party cookies. Also, make sure 'Keep Until' is followed by 'they expire'.
- Take your time! Yes, this is repeated to help aid your approval success. The longer you take to fill out a survey, the more chance you have of it approving. A good way to gauge your time is to read the pages, the questions, the answers, etc. View the ads and do your offers leisurely. This shows the advertiser that you are interested in not only the reward you are receiving for completing the offer, but also for the offer that you are completing.
- Take your time between offers. If you rush all offers, it's very unlikely they will credit.
- Limit the offers you complete each day. Doing too many offers on a day will highly reduce your approval rate
- Turn off your pop-up blockers! This is also said to help while completing offers.
- Don't use anti-virus or firewalls while completing offers. Sometimes this can be problematic for multiple reasons, including a proxy issue that may come up with your membership on AskEachOther.
- Proxies should never be used. Advertisers don't like them, and AskEachOther doesn't allow them, ever.
- There are no longer multiple quiz rockets to complete so doing so will only result in the leads being denied. In addition to that, the approval rate went down from very high to low approval credits recently.
How To Complete an Offer
- Do not complete multiple offers from the same group (Or 'Family'). This rings especially true for free offers. Completing multiple offers in one day, or even in a couple consecutive days may result in poor credit approval.
- Don't complete a lot of offers in one sitting. A great amount to complete in any one day would be 5 offers. You can try up to 10 while still receiving alright credit approval, however the fewer you do daily, the more chances they will credit.
- Claim your offers. Claim Claim Claim! We cannot credit you if you don't claim your offer. You should try to get in the habit of completing an offer, marking it as completed, then clearing your cookies.
- Spread your offers out, take your time doing an offer. Then give a little bit of time before completing the next offer. 5 minutes in between offers is a great time to give. If you wait a little longer, you can improve your approval rate a little more as well.
- Most advertisers will NOT credit you unless you confirm their contact. This can be an email that they send you. If it is, please be sure to click the link so that they know you have received their contact.
This can be by phone, please answer and listen to their call. If they receive a voice-mail they may not credit you with points. They usually just want to welcome you to whatever you have signed up for.
- You MUST submit a UNIQUE email address to each offer completed. Using the same email multiple times could cause offers not to credit as regularly if at all.

Additional information on 2,2,2's - You must complete the entire survey. You will have to answer YES to atleast two of the offers during the signup/completion of the offer. Once you have completed the registration portion you will be required to click at least one bonus offer (where offered).
The more offers within the survey that you signup for (or opt-in to), the higher your chances will be to get the offer to credit for you. This is a VERY important tip and something to remember when completing any offers. When you complete an offer within the path itself, your chances for being credited raise considerably.
Trial Offers
- Never use prepay credit cards/gift cards. Most advertisers won't allow you to use them and will be declined right away. Other advertisers may end up denying your credit later if you do use a prepay.
- Don't sign up then cancel right away. Advertisers will see that you didn't give their service or product a fair try and will be less inclined to credit you. Only sign up for things you really want to try, and give it an honest shot. Most trials have at-least a 7 day grace period where you can cancel without being charged. Use that time to try the product or service.
- Make sure advertisers can reach you on the phone, otherwise a lot of trials won't even approve, or will be reversed afterwards. Advertisers confirm by phone if you are a serious potential customer with serious interest.
- Only do trials or paid offers that you seriously find interesting. Advertisers don't pay you because they like to give away money. They pay you because they like you to seriously try out their products. If you only do a trial or paid offer for the incentive, it's very likely the offer will be reversed or not even credit.
- Correct information isn't just a big thing to remember for credit, but also for correspondence with your trial. Double check to make sure all information is correct before submitting your page. This is so that your trial isn't sent to a different address. This could also be so that the company doesn't try to call a different house, or get a error when calling (This would result in non credit approval).
- When completing trial offers always try to use a credit card (Not a Debit Card). We are unsure why, but some advertisers will NOT approve offers completed using debit cards.
- Never Never Never use a gift card to complete an offer. Gift cards are blacklisted for most advertisers. While you may get your trial, you will not receive credit if you have used a gift card for payment.
- Use the credit card corresponding with where you live. For the best results, try to use the credit card that has the same address as your current house. The closer the zip code on your credit card is, the higher your chance of approval.
- When completing trial offers you MUST use a Land-line, or mobile phone number. Using Brring, Grand Central, and other online phone service numbers will not work. If you want your offer to credit, you must use a Land-line or mobile phone number.
- Confirm! If you receive an email from the trial you've just completed, read it. Click the links. Activate the account/service. If you receive a phone call, answer and see what they are calling for. It has come to our attention that soft phones (Or Internet/VoIP phones) are not appreciated by the advertisers and will result in a lower approval rating.
- Make sure you enter all information correctly. No typos! Messing up on your order form could result in non tracking issues and even in not receiving the item. This could also cause issues for the company to find your account should you need assistance.
- Use an email address you have complete access to. Don't sign up with a fake email address, or a temporary inbox. Temporary inbox addresses are not allowed on AskEachOther, nor through our advertisers. Use of a temporary inbox address could affect your approval rates negatively.
Advice from an experienced User of Offer sites around the Web

This is how I complete MOST offers!
1.)- CLEAR COOKIES CACHE before every offer - change emails often. (I use Ccleaner and Cookieculler I know over kill but that's the kind of gal I am)
2.)- CHOOSE AN OFFER - I use the recently approved list to see whats working for others
3.)- READ COMMENTS ON OFFER --(This only applies to PAID offers)--see if there is anything I need to know or do to like confirm email-how long others gave waited for approval TIP!IF it is an offer I am not familiar with I check offer advice in forum to see if there is any tips on completing
4.)- RIGHT CLICK "take me to offer" then "open in new tab"
5.)- FIRST PAGE you enter email ( I prefer Gmail )
6.)- SECOND PAGE NAME-ADDRESS-ZIP-B-DAY-PHONE- ALL MUST BE YOUR REAL INFO TIP!!--(YOU can use Brring.com/Laservoicemail.com/k7.net or if you know of one lmk these 3 have worked well for me for an alternate number to help avoid/deter telemarketers~ KEEP IN MIND: USING THE ALTERNATE NUMBER AND NOT ANSWERING THE CALLS CAN EFFECT APPROVALS SOME ADVERTISER REQUIRE YOU TO ANSWER BEFORE APPROVING! ALSO SOMETIMES AN OFFER WILL SAY ADDRESS NOT ACCEPTED-- MANY TIMES IT IS BECAUSE THE AREA CODE AND ZIP CODE NOT THE SAME LOCATION, These offers you will have to use your real number or not do offer. Using a NEW email on every offer has proven to be helpful in getting approvals-though I will use an email on 2-3 offers as long as i know there different advertisers, but its up to you. Using alternate emails is also good to keep main email clear of all the SPAM you WILL receive!-GMAIL.com--YAHOO.com--GMX.com---INBOX.com-- NO TEMP EMAILS ALLOWED
7.)- AFTER YOU ENTER YOUR INFO ON SECOND PAGE YOU THEN skip/pass or mark the following offers no and submit-- IF/WHEN given a wall of yes/no(sometimes called the CPA wall) You will need to choose 2-3 to mark YES and 1-2 OF THOSE to actually complete(DON'T PANIC--This won't cost a penny-there are many that are simple email sign ups-- AND this has made a big difference in getting them to approve SO to me its well worth the time it takes to do. Once you choose them scroll down and submit and complete the offers you chose. After you complete the 1-2 offers and skip the other offers
8.)- CONTINUE skip/passing NO submit TIL YOU REACH CONGRATS page--It says something like "DO 2 SILVER offers" YOU JUST HAVE TO CLICK and let 2 silver offers load scroll down go to GOLD Click # of them let them load scroll down go to Platinum click # and let them load scroll down page and click bonus offers if there is any or it will say GO BACK TO GOLD-YOU ARE DONE
9)- I leave all tabs open and go check email I used for offer and see if there is a confirm email i need to click
10.) MARK OFFER COMPLETE DO YOUR SPIN TO WIN IF you have spins- I wait 10-20 minutes before I CLOSE ALL TABS AND CLEAR COOKIES-- TIP! I usually wait 10-20 minutes between offers as well
TIP!! --IF IT DOESN'T APPROVE--I do another offer with a NEW email address-- IF IT doesn't approve with the new email I QUIT OFFERS for the day-- and start again the next day some days they just don't approve
I ALWAYS STOP when i have 3-4 pending offers from the days attempts~
TAKE YOUR TIME WHILE DOING OFFERS AND WAIT IN BETWEEN OFFERS--DOING THEM TO FAST AND COMPLETING A LOT IN SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME CAN EFFECT APPROVALS
~ ONLY DO ONE OF EACH FAMILY OF OFFERS A DAY - DOING MORE THEN ONE LOWERS YOUR CHANCES OF APPROVAL- I know sometimes you can get away with doing more then one but personally i rather wait a day and have best chance then push my luck and lower chances.
VIRUS PROTECTION-SPYWARE-POP-UP BLOCKERS--AD BLOCKERS-FIREWALLS- BLOCKING 3RD PARTY COOKIES ALL CAN PLAY A PART IN OFFERS APPROVING OR NOT BUT EACH PERSON MUST DO WHAT THEY ARE COMFY WITH
Even when you do everything correct offers do not always approve there is no rhyme or reason to it, SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THEN OTHERS --
