The group known as Anonymous is planning a cyber attack on the mega social site Facebook. They say that Facebook keeps/stores all of our information and sells it to 3rd party companies. The group which not all Anonymous members agree about the attack will try to shut it down by slowing down Facebook's serves making it temporarily unavailable. Although, Facebook has and services 750 million members and can handle 10's of millions at a time. So how they plan to do it is unbeknownst to most. Except that it will happen Nov. 5th. The founder of Facebook said that Facebook has not or will not ever sell user information to 3rd parties.
For a little background on the group. Guy Fawkes Night is Nov. 5th, the night in 1605 in which Guy Fawkes was arrested while guarding explosives beneath London's House of Lords in an attempt to kill numerous politicians and King James I.Members and supporters of Anonymous adopted the Guy Fawkes mask, as seen in the comic book and film "V for Vendetta," as a symbol for the group.
The group tried to take down another heavy hitter site: Amazon. But couldn't because like Facebook it has a huge server. They have had other successful attempts like taking down PayPal & MasterCard.
