Here's the Scoop

By Maggie Jun 16, 2010 9:53am

I have a sweet tooth.

Let me rephrase that: I have a mouth full of sweet teeth.

It’s a curse. I’ve been a total chocolate chaser for the majority of my life. Mom and Dad used to call me Cookie Monster, and if they counted memes as first words, I would have been credited with saying “om nom nom” before “Dada.”

But while I would jump through a ridiculous amount of hoops for a bite of a fresh-outta-the-oven chocolate-chip cookie, jumping through hoops doesn’t even begin to describe the lengths I would go to for a good old-fashioned trip to the ice cream store.

When I lived in D.C. a few summers ago, my friends and I would frequent the local ice cream shops like it was our job. And it turned into sort of a tradition for our little clique. So every time our gaggle of girls gets together, we bee-line it to an ice cream stand and place our order. And, of course, because we’re part of the Facebook, webutante generation, we always take pictures while we’re there (my friends and I decided we could probably post an entire album of pictures that included nothing other than us stuffin’ our pie holes with a double scoop).

And even though I think I might have tried every single ice cream combination under the sizzlin’ summer sun, I still hesitate and stammer as I try to decide whether I want soft or hard ice cream.

What say you Sillystatters? Do you prefer soft-serve or scoop ice cream?
