I'm
a nice girl. You know what I mean? A no-kiss-on-the-first-(or
second)-date, please-and-thank-you sort of chick. And I'm not really
much of a dater anyway; I'm more of a girlfriend girl than a
datey-lady. So the fact that I'm even posting this blog and posing this
question is simultaneously blowing my mind and making me giggle like a
14-year-old who just saw Nick Jonas in a wet T-shirt.
But here it goes:
I
double-booked myself a few days ago and accidentally ended up with two
dates in one night. Lucky for me, there was no catastrophe. They were
in separate venues, scheduled with enough of a gap in between to allow
me ample travel time, and the guys don't know each other, so there was
no way either one would find out. And if they did, well, did it really
matter anyway?
They were both first dates, and first dates are
sort of like interviews, if you ask me. I mean, think back to your last
job interview, and then think about your last first date. I know in
both cases I totally overthink what I'm going to wear, my posture, what
my breath smells like, the questions I should be asking, the way I
should be answering their questions, whether I'm blushing, the fact
that I forgot to get a manicure ... the list goes on.
And you
know, and your prospective employer know that they're not the only
company you're interested in. I mean, you'd be a fool to just apply for
one stinkin' job, right? You're playing the corporate field. And it's the same thing on a first date. Right?
I don't need to feel guilty about the fact that I double-dipped, do I? How many of you have done it before?
